DBS Names Senior Private Bank Figure

DBS has appointed Lee Woon Shiu as the regional head of wealth planning, family office and insurance solutions for its private bank. 

The appointment takes effect from today, the Singapore-based bank said.

Lee Woon Shiu’s key responsibilities include driving the expansion of the bank’s wealth planning, family office and insurance offerings, and providing holistic solutions and advisory for high net worth families. Lee will report to Sim S Lim, group head of consumer banking and wealth management, DBS Bank.

Lee was most recently head of wealth planning, trust and insurance at Bank of Singapore. Since joining the bank in 2004, he led the set-up of the trust marketing division in Asia and was instrumental in helping to penetrate new trust markets in Greater China, Brunei, India, Sri Lanka, Middle East and Africa. He is an industry veteran with over 20 years of experience in advising numerous ultra-high net worth families in Asia-Pacific on the strategic structuring of their estate and succession concerns, and engaging multi-generational families on the establishment and implementation of family governance and philanthropy strategies.

Sim S Lim said the hire was necessary at a time when Asia was “at the cusp of a significant intergenerational wealth transfer”.

Lee is also active in academia, holding the title of adjunct professor at the Wealth Management Institute at Nanyang Technological University of Singapore. He has been appointed expert panel member of WMI to provide guidance to the institute and its faculty in developing new IBF Standards and Curriculum for Wealth Planning for the private banking, trust and wealth planning industry of Singapore. He is also an advocate and solicitor of Singapore, a solicitor of England and Wales and an accredited trust and estate practitioner under the International Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners. He graduated with a bachelor of law from the National University of Singapore.
